Our Project

The goal of this page is family. As my family continues to scatter in the wind, we need to find a connection once again. A few years ago, when the whole family lived in one house, we played a game. We made haiku about household items. We laughed. We "family-ed"......

This is my family. Sharing our days. Our experiences. In haiku. I challenge each to learn about traditional Japanese Haiku and English Haiku. Most important though, I challenge my family to share in syllables.

Giving Something Up

Thought I would give up
something for lenten season.
Technology, hmmm?

Instead I gave up
ten days of my life sitting.
Felt miserable.

Now back to living,
getting organized again.
Going back to work.

(I wish I could add
single words to my haiku.
Just want to add.....yuck.)

Fat Tuesday

Jelly donuts - yum.
Fat Tuesday, Paczki Day, Shrove,
All the joy in life.

The day before lent
Indulging in fat, butter,
sugar, chocolate.

Give up chocolate?
NO...I think technology.
Giving up Facebook.

Forget that Netflix
and hours spent on computers.
Time to read a book.

Doodle

Spouse is sick at home
Puppy is cuddling her
I send a doodle.

Each day one for sure
Sometimes two when she needs them
Bright sunshine drawings.

Makes her smile and grin
Makes the Puppy turn her head
A drawing a day.

On The Road

I am on the road,
the road to recovery.
Moving right along.

Spent some days sleeping
and eating anything that the
guy in the car brought.

Time to get moving
again on the path of health.
Time to cook real food.

Days

Where have the days gone?
Like sands through the hourglass
These are the days of...

What happened?  My eyes
closed, and now they are open.
Days have disappeared.

Where did the time go?
Sitting, sleeping, cuddling pup.
Some crumpets for lunch.

When will this sickness
disappear into the wind?
I want my days back.

Kids Are So Nice

Want to take a day
A day to rest and relax
A day with no germs.

You see - I am sick.
You can not say kids don't share
they are sooooo polite!

Sick Day

Home early from school
attack of the coughing crud.
rest...sleep....cuddle pup.

January Thirty

Thirty disappeared.
Up early and ran all day.
Where did the day go?

Started with the rain
Sleet fell to glaze the streets - then
blanket it with snow.

Tucked in for the night.
Slumbering in flannel sheets.
Thirty-one is here.

My Day

A pajama day...
no time to go out, just clean
working hard all day.

Drop off and pick up
in pj's. Embarrassing
Man Child - task complete.

Dinner out with friends.
Time to sit, relax and chat.
Time for clean jammies.

Despicable Me
with puppies and the Man Child.
Yep - the day was great!

Family Quilts

My grandmothers quilts
Like magic when I was young
My first was so small.
I grew up today
Recalling the first blanket
My new one so big.
But only nineteen
So much life ahead of me
I am still so young.
Then I stop and think,
What will be when I am old?
Who will have this quilt?
When I'm finally grown
My challenges defeated
When I reach my peak,
Will I be able-
Would there be someone to give-
Will I pass them on?
Will I make them new?
Will they be sitting on shelves?
Or will old be loved?

Lists. Chores. Laundry. Making art.
Another day gone.

Sunday

Sunday is now here.
Our family day together
now spent far apart.

Saturday

Saturday is gone.
Came and went without a stroke
of the pen from me.

Cold Winters Night

A cold winters night
Sparkling road and the moon
Makes fair company

A late winters night
The smorw is starting to melt
Spring's a new beginning.

My New Friend

I have a new friend.
She is a pretty pink pig.
We love to play games.

Naughty Dog

It's a naughty dog.
A naughty dog kind of day.
It is just a leaf!

A dog ought not bark
It's the wind, only the wind,
It's a naughty dog.

Cold air on the wind.
Swirling, shaking, stretching fur.
